Hair appointment before or after Holiday? We get asked this a lot.
And.. it all depends on your hair.
Hair Colour
Blonde
If you’re blonde, you might want to book your highlights before you go so your hair is on point for holidays. However, you need to remember the sun will lighten your hair. So be prepared for an even brighter shade of blonde on your return home. Also, blonde hair tends to be drier so make sure to care for your hair on holiday with the additional UV, chlorine or sea salt it can be exposed to. Nourishing your hair with professional hair masks and styling creams will help keep your hair healthy while away.
Dark
If you have dark hair and get an overall colour, you may want a rich new colour before you leave. However, your colour will lighten in the sun, so you might want to get it freshened up when you return from holiday.
Red
If you get any red tones in your hair, remember these can look much more vibrant in the sunlight, and can lighten a good deal with exposure to the sun. So in summer time, it is often better to skip the red tones and leave them until autumn time.
Covering Grey
If you get your root colour done to cover greys, it is always a good idea to get this done, no matter where you are going. No one wants to look in the mirror and see the contrast of grey roots against the colour on your length, especially not on holiday when you want to feel your best!
Hair Length
If you are due a hair cut we recommend getting it done before holidays. Taking the dead ends off your length will make you hair look healthier and create a more polished look. Also a trim can prevent split ends worsening from sun and sea damage.
Help your Hair
While on holiday there are precautions you can take to minimise damage or hair lightening.
- Rinse your hair in fresh water after getting out of the pool or sea.
- Apply heat protection or a nourishing styling cream after each wash, or a specialised UV protection product.
- Wear a hat as often as possible or a scarf over your hair.
And finally, if you get your hair appointment before or after holiday, just make sure you go and let your hair down!
